About Hannah

Hannah Anderson is a dance artist, choreographer and educator based in Kansas City, MO, who fosters a deep affection for the artists and organizations that she has worked with all over the Midwest. Her professional career began with Störling Dance Theater and soon expanded into creative projects with companies across the region, including Ad Deum Dance, Open Sky Arts Collective, and Mei/Co Dance. In addition to a wide range of freelance performance, Hannah has created and performed in more than 20 original works with her Kansas City–based repertory company, Anderson Dance Co.

As a choreographer, Hannah is best known for her musicality, expansive ensemble works and poignant messaging. To date, she has created more than 20 works for professional companies and collegiate programs, including several evening-length and multi-part pieces. Hannah’s work in the studio and on stage often centers around the complexities of the human experience. She engages directly with topics such as grief, loss and loneliness, endeavoring to empower her dancers and audience to move through these experiences honestly and tenderly. Hannah also loves to bring joy, healing and laughter through her work, often exploring themes of play and humor. Hannah’s most celebrated works include “The Meeting Place,” “Joy Unfolding!” and “Rocketman.”

Over the past decade, Hannah has created work for Störling Dance Theater, Ad Deum Dance, Open Sky Dallas, Firelight Creative, Zoe’s House Adoption Agency and Störling Conservatory of Dance, among others. While her primary focus has been concert dance, she has recently expanded into collaborations with artists of other disciplines, as well as musical theatre, serving as Movement Director for several original productions, including one adapted for film. Her choreography has been presented at festivals throughout the Midwest, including Oklahoma International Dance Fest, Backyard Series Dallas and 254 Dance Fest. In 2026, Hannah had the immense honor of presenting Joy Unfolding!, one of her most beloved works, at the 18th Annual Spring to Dance Festival in St. Louis, MO.

Hannah currently directs Anderson Dance Co., a contemporary modern repertory company founded in 2023 and based out of Kansas City. As an educator, Hannah cultivates spaces where dancers are empowered to shed limiting patterns and discover freedom through simplicity and intentionality. She currently teaches contemporary, Limón-based modern, and improvisation at Störling Conservatory of Dance, where she also serves as a resident choreographer. Hannah is grateful to be a wife and mother to three delightful children, whose creativity and curiosity supply her with endless inspiration.
