Choreographer

Hannah is an independent choreographer based in Kansas City, MO, who fosters a deep affection for the artists and organizations that she has worked with all over the Midwest. She is best known for her musicality, expansive ensemble works and poignant messaging. To date, she has created more than 20 works for professional companies and collegiate programs, including several evening-length and multi-part pieces.

Hannah’s work in the studio and on stage often centers around the complexities of the human experience. She engages directly with topics such as grief, loss and loneliness, endeavoring to empower her dancers and audience to move through these experiences honestly and tenderly. Hannah also loves to bring joy, healing and laughter through her work, often exploring themes of play and humor.

Over the past decade, Hannah has created work for Störling Dance Theater, Ad Deum Dance, Open Sky Dallas, Zoe’s House Adoption Agency and Störling Conservatory of Dance, among others. While her primary focus has been concert dance, she has recently expanded into collaborations with artists of other disciplines as well as musical theatre, serving as Movement Director for several original productions, including Jammed: The Musical, The Journey Home and the musical film Eden’s Twilight. Her choreography has been presented at festivals throughout the Midwest, including Oklahoma International Dance Fest, Backyard Series Dallas and 254 Dance Fest. In 2026, Hannah had the immense honor of presenting “Joy Unfolding!” one of her most beloved works, at the 18th Annual Spring to Dance Festival in St. Louis, MO.

Hannah currently directs Anderson Dance Co., a contemporary modern repertory company founded in 2023 and based out of Kansas City. As an educator, Hannah cultivates spaces where dancers are empowered to shed limiting patterns and discover freedom through simplicity and intentionality. She currently teaches contemporary, Limón-based modern, and improvisation at Störling Conservatory of Dance, where she also serves as a resident choreographer. Hannah is grateful to be a wife and mother to three delightful children, whose creativity and curiosity provide her with endless inspiration.

Artistic inspirations include the work of José Limón, Mark Morris, Lar Lubovitch and Bruce Wood. Hannah is grateful for formative training from Tobin James, Aaron Chen, Durell Comedy and most recently, Gracie Whyte and Laura Berg.

Celebrated Works

Joy Unfolding!

Premiered 2024 / MidAmerica Nazerene University

Through the soaring music of Antonín Dvořák, Joy Unfolding! invites the audience into a world of beauty, imagination and delight. Originally created in 2024 for the company’s spring repertory performance, For the Beauty of the Earth, the work celebrates the pure elation that emerges through genuine camaraderie.

Emmaus

Emmaus depicts the internal wrestle that arises when we are faced with a difficult road - how will we respond to suffering? Described by audience members as “transcendent,” “beyond words” and a “magnificent marrying of music and form,” Emmaus offers its audience the gift of being seen in pain, hardship and the strength to continue walking when the end is uncertain.

Premiered 2026 / Works in Progress: Spring

Wild Geese

This recent solo is the first installment of a larger future work, set to the poetry of Mary Oliver. Wild Geese, inspired by the poem of the same name, unfolds through spoken text and the soul-stirring music of Schumann, inviting audiences to exchange restless pursuit for true belonging.

Premiered 2025 / Backyard Series Dallas

Alleluia

Premiered 2016 / Reset 2026 / Störling Conservatory of Dance

Alleluia, a sweeping ensemble work deeply inspired by the movement of José Limón, was first created in 2016 as one of Hannah’s earliest ensemble choreographic works. A second iteration of this luminous piece was staged in spring 2026 in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Störling Conservatory of Dance. Audiences have likened Alleluia to “a movement kaleidoscope” and “flickering candles filling a cathedral.”

Incarnate Love

Premiered 2024 / Dance Film in Collaboration with Kelsie Massey

Incarnate Love is a dance film embodying the sacred mystery of the Incarnation within the Christian tradition. Set to an original poem written and performed by the dynamic actress, poet and vocalist Kelsie Massey, the work beckons audiences into a contemplative experience of divine love. This film was co-directed by Sean East.

“I remember first meeting Hannah years ago at a summer dance intensive in Houston, Texas. Hannah's physicality and intuition in movement caught my attention immediately. And those amazing, buoyant jumps that she executes! They seem to come from nowhere! Those gifts were highlighted in a solo that I created for her  - "Johnny and Donna" - which, to date, is one of my favorites...

But what has been even more compelling is Hannah's growth as a choreographer. Her 2024 evening of works, "For the Beauty of the Earth," highlighted Hannah's choreography that was all masterfully crafted, passionately executed, and that gave us all a glimpse of her unique choreographic voice.

Keep your eye on Hannah - she is paving her way!”
